ETHICS IN SCIENTIFIC PUBLICATION

Term of Responsibility for Manuscript Submission

Authors must commit that the article sent for evaluation is unpublished, and will not be submitted to another journal during the analysis process and if approved for publication. The copyright of the article, if published, is automatically assigned to the journal Perspectivas Contemporâneas, which is authorized to publish it in print, digital, or other existing media, without financial compensation for the authors.

Authorship

Authors are those who contributed significantly to the conception, execution or interpretation of the work, and should be listed as authors. It is not justified to include the names of authors whose contribution does not fit the above criteria, and may, in this case, appear in the “Acknowledgments” section.

Originality

Authors must certify that the submitted manuscripts are original and that they have not been copied or plagiarized, in whole or in part, from other articles. Authors must ensure that manuscripts are entirely original, except for parts previously presented at congresses or similar events.

Transparency

The editors of Perspectivas Contemporâneas keep readers informed about editorial decisions. The submission of manuscripts through the OJS system guarantees the author's access to the progress of the evaluation process.

Conflict of interests

Conflicts of interest can occur when authors, reviewers or editors have interests that may influence the preparation or evaluation of manuscripts. When submitting the manuscript, authors are responsible for acknowledging and disclosing financial or other conflicts that may have influenced the work. The authors must identify in the manuscript all the financial support obtained for the execution of the work and other personal connections related to its accomplishment. The reviewer must inform the editors of any conflicts of interest that could influence the analysis of the manuscript, and must declare himself unqualified to review it.

MANUSCRIPT EVALUATION PROCESSES

Manuscripts submitted to the articles sections will be evaluated as follows:

Step 1 – Desk Review

The Chief Editors carry out the first evaluation of the manuscript based on the guidelines for authors, the research ethics and integrity policy, the focus and scope of the journal. In this step, the articles will be scanned by similarity software (CopySpider).

Step 2 – Blind Review

Articles accepted in Stage 1 – Desk Review proceed to Stage 2 – Blind Review.

The process of evaluating the articles in Step 2 is called Blind Review "double blind", in which the reviewers are not aware of the author and the author is not aware of the reviewers. This evaluation process is used to avoid any type of conflict of interest that may arise during the editorial process.

The Advisory Board or reviewers of the Perspectivas Contemporâneas Journal is composed of professionals with knowledge and experience in the areas of Social Sciences. Manuscripts to be reviewed will be previously selected by the Editorial Board and then made available to two members of the Advisory Board, who will be responsible for analyzing, approving or refusing the articles. If there is a divergence in the assessments, an additional analysis will be carried out by a third Member of the Advisory Board, for a final opinion.

Standard time to complete an assessment: first step (up to 15 days); second stage (up to 90 days);

Recruitment of evaluators: via invitation (according to suggestions from the Editorial Board based on the Lattes Platform; and/or via enrollment/registration and subsequent evaluation by the Editorial Board); preferably with a minimum Doctor degree.
