With social, political, and economic advances, women have begun to occupy more spaces and invest in their careers, breaking with traditionally imposed gender norms. In this context, the general objective of this article is to investigate whether gender influences the professional advancement of women in the field of international business. The specific objectives are: i) to understand the challenges that influence women's professional advancement in this area; and ii) to reflect on the contribution of public sector and civil society initiatives in promoting this participation. The research, which is exploratory in nature and uses a quantitative approach, used a questionnaire as a data collection tool, with descriptive statistics used for data analysis. The sample consisted of 102 female graduates of the Foreign Trade Course between 2019 and 2023, linked to a higher education institution in the Western Metropolitan Region of São Paulo. The results highlight the obstacles faced by women in the labor market, especially in the area of international business, emphasizing the importance of initiatives by the public sector and civil society so that women can advance in their professional careers, enjoying more and better opportunities and fewer disparities.
