The gastroplasty surgery is a significant artifice, currently reputed as an effective resource in the approach of morbid obesity and its comorbidities, it is indicated both for weight reduction, as well as for the management and even recovery from endocrinological diseases. However, it is estimated that half of the individuals will return to incipient weight after five years of intervention, proving that the main difficulty is not related to weight reduction, but to its final maintenance. However, the interpretation of treatment success must take into account not only the decrease in weight, but also consider other factors such as the recovery of quality of life and self-esteem. Thus, the objective of this study was to evaluate the quality of life and satisfaction with the body image of women undergoing gastroplasty who had regained weight. This is a descriptive cross-sectional study, carried out with 30 women, through the application of a questionnaire related to personal identification and issues related to quality of life, and an evaluation was applied according to the Kakeshita scale of figures, which aims to identify dissatisfaction with the body image. The results showed that despite the occurrence of weight regain, most participants showed satisfaction with the improvement in quality of life, however, they were dissatisfied with their physical appearance. Taking the conclusion that the surgery does not guarantee the achievement of the desired physical shape, as this depends on numerous factors, not only physical, but also emotional.Downloads
